Launched Germany's First Newton Flight Academy

Boeing, CHESCO, and FIRST Scandinavia celebrated the opening of Germany's first Newton Flight Academy in Brandenburg on July 1, 2024.

 

Located in Cottbus, Newton Flight Academy Brandeburg was inaugurated by Amy Gutmann, US Ambassador to Germany, and Dr. Dietmar Woidke, Prime Minister of Brandenburg. The academy is the first permanent facility of its kind in Germany, emphasizing aerospace within STEM education.

Amy Gutmann expressed excitement about Boeing's commitment in Germany, highlighting the academy's role in bridging economy, education, and society. The facility is equipped with three full-motion simulators, a lab, and a modern classroom. It joins similar academies in Bodø, Glasgow, Beijing, and Istanbul, making it the fifth globally.

 

Dr. Michael Haidinger, President of Boeing Germany, noted the partnership with CHESCO and FIRST Scandinavia as key to their ongoing commitment to STEM education. Per-Arild Konradsen, CEO of FIRST Scandinavia, acknowledged the importance of international knowledge exchange and welcomed Germany to the Newton network.

 

Heiko Witte, Managing Director of CHESCO GmbH, mentioned the unique opportunity the academy brought to Cottbus, enhancing sustainable aviation technologies and providing youth with aerospace experiences. The initiative aims to inspire a new generation of STEM enthusiasts and innovators.
