New Newton Module Ready for the International Network: The Inventor

13 Nov 2025

Say hello to The Inventor, a brand-new Newton Module now available in the International Module Library.

Designed for students aged 8–9, this module encourages creativity, technical understanding, and algorithmic thinking through hands-on exploration and playful innovation.

The International Newton Module Library now includes 9 modules

“We are so proud to offer this module to the international network. The Inventor covers basic technological principles and lets students explore technology and design through open-ended tasks,” says Ingjerd Staurbakk, Educational Specialist in Newton.

Rune Strømsvik has been a Newton Teacher in Meløy since 2010.

The Inventor has a long and solid history in the Newton Concept. The module was originally developed by Rune Strømsvik at Newton Meløy in Norway in 2013 and underwent its first revision in 2020 to align with the updated national curriculum. In 2022, the module was revised again to adapt it to SPIKE Prime.

Throughout the module, students engage in creative LEGO building, experiment with how motor power transfers to other moving parts, explore practical uses of sensors, and practice basic block programming using SPIKE Prime.
The pre-work prepares students by introducing gears and pulleys found in the LEGO sets, and encourages discussions on how various technological inventions function.

The Inventor is now ready for use, inviting young learners everywhere to explore, build, and create like true inventors.
