Visaginas has expanded both its Newton facilities and its teaching offer. The enlarged Newton area was officially opened on 24 September and includes four new Newton Modules.
The expansion gives Visaginas more space for practical STEM education and allows more students to take part in Newton activities.

Aviation module
A new aviation-focused area is equipped with four flight simulator panels and will be used for the Newton Module Up in the Air with Numbers. In the module, students work with mathematics and aviation through practical tasks and simulator-based activities.
The teaching offer has also been expanded with three additional modules: Mission Possible, Search and Rescue and The Inventor. Together, the four new modules add activities within aviation, mathematics, technology, problem-solving and creative development.
Guests from across Lithuania joined the official opening of the expanded Newton Room in Visaginas.
Representatives from municipalities, schools, education authorities, business, academia and partner organisations from across Lithuania attended the opening.
The team responsible for running Newton in Visaginas includes Ieva Gudé, Education Lead; Donata Radionova and Loreta Norvaišaitė, Newton Teachers; and Viktorija Abaraviciene, Newton Room Manager.

A place for curiosity
Visaginas Mayor Erlandas Galaguz spoke about what the expanded Newton facilities can mean for children and young people in the municipality.
“I believe the Newton Room will become not only a modern learning space, but also a place where curiosity, new ideas and the courage to create can grow,” he said.
FIRST Scandinavia founder and CEO Per-Arild Konradsen also attended the opening.
“It was a fantastic opening in Visaginas. The fact that they are expanding their Newton facilities and implementing four new modules shows that they are making a strong investment in STEM education for children and young people in the region,” said Konradsen.
Solrunn Lian has been Project Manager for the development of the expanded Newton facilities and has spent the past two weeks in Visaginas helping to establish and build the new areas.
“We are very happy with the collaboration we have had here and with how the facilities have turned out. They have really made a strong commitment to Newton in Visaginas,” said Lian.
After the official programme, guests were invited to try activities from the different Newton Modules.
With the expanded facilities, four new modules and four flight simulators in place, Visaginas now has a broader Newton offer for local students.
