Successful Opening in Croatia

The two Newton Rooms in Ludbreg, Alpha and Beta, have officially opened their doors. 

This project, a partnership between the Croatian educational Centre Lori Ludbreg and various stakeholders, has been supported with almost 3 million euros from EEA and Norway Grants.

The opening ceremony, which took place at Newton Ludbreg Beta this week, saw a gathering of numerous visitors, media representatives, and guests. Among the speakers were Mrs. Željka Marković-Bilić, Director of Lori Ludbreg; Mr. Dubravko Bilić, Mayor of Ludbreg; and Mr. Helge Klouman Marstrander, Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, showcasing the collaborative effort behind this project.  

Officials from both Croatian and Norwegian sides expressed their enthusiasm and support for the project, including M.Sc. Vesna Šerepac, Director of the Directorate for Education in the Ministry of Science and Education; Mr. Anđelko Stričak, Prefect of Varaždin County; Domagoj Mikulić, State Secretary of the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds; and Per-Arild Konradsen, CEO and founder of First Scandinavia.

PROUD GROUP. Officials from both Croatian and Norway celebrated the milestone in Ludbreg April 2nd.

 

The ceremony was not just about speeches; it also included a symbolic ribbon-cutting at the entrance of the Newton Ludbreg Alpha building. Attendees were treated to a demonstration by children of the "Search and Rescue" module, showcasing the practical and interactive learning experiences the centers aim to provide. 

 

 

Several teachers from Newton will present educational strategies across six Newton Modules, providing over 1,300 students in the region with a hands-on Newton learning experience. The modules cover a wide range of topics, including "Up in the Air with Numbers," "Sustainable Aviation Fuel," "Search and Rescue," "Robots and Circumference," "Mission Possible: The King's Treasure," and "We Explore Energy."

Continuing Growth in the Newton Concept

The EEA and Norway Grants are funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway. The Grants have two goals: to contribute to a more equal Europe, both socially and economically, and to strengthen the relations between Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and the 15 Beneficiary States in Europe.
