The Mobile Room is for the first time available to students in England.
Weston-super-Mare, UNITED KINGDOM: North Somerset welcomes a new Mobile Newton Room at Weston College, a leading Further Education college.
Engineered by the non-profit FIRST Scandinavia, and supported by Boeing, the Mobile Newton Room offers the module "Up in the Air with Numbers." It provides three-hour flight-specific lessons for students aged 12 and older, aiming to inspire careers in the South West's aerospace sector.
The room was officially opened by Councillor John Crockford-Hawley, Mayor of Weston-super-Mare, and attended by local dignitaries, Boeing apprentices, and students. Maria Laine, Boeing's regional president, emphasized the importance of partnerships like those with Weston College to support future STEM talent.
Alex Warner, Deputy Principal of Weston College, highlighted the alignment of this initiative with the college’s role in leading the West of England Institute of Technology, enhancing STEM education and supporting the aerospace industry's talent development.
Per-Arild Konradsen, CEO of FIRST Scandinavia, commended the collaboration with Boeing and Weston College, aiming to provide quality STEM learning experiences through the Mobile Newton Room.
The Mobile Newton Room will be available from June 10 to June 28.
In the UK, Boeing supports two Newton Rooms: Newton South Yorkshire and Newton Flight Academy at Glasgow Science Centre. Additionally, Scotland hosts four permanent Newton Rooms and one Pop-up Newton Room, all operated by the Science Skills Academy.
