ROME/ITALY: On Monday this week, First Scandinavia, in partnership with Boeing and Aeroporti di Roma, officially opened Newton Rome at Rome Fiumicino Airport, marking the latest addition to its international network of Newton Rooms.

The inauguration was attended by Hon. Mario Baccini, Mayor of the Municipality of Fiumicino; Vincenzo Nunziata, Chairman of ADR; Marco Troncone, CEO of ADR; Armida Balla, Communications Manager for Italy, Southern Europe, and Israel at Boeing; and Per-Arild Konradsen, Founder of FIRST Scandinavia.
The event also saw participation from Giovanna Laschena, International, Security, and Research Central Director of ENAC, and Patrizia Terlizzi, ENAC Director of Fiumicino Airport, and concluded with a video message from Hon. Paola Frassinetti, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Education and Merit.
The Newton Room in Rome is located in the arrivals hall of Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, just to the left after you have collected your luggage and exited.
Newton Rome, an experiential classroom dedicated to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) disciplines, will offer education for students aged 13 to 16 from middle and high schools in the area and the region. They will engage with the Newton Module "Up in the Air with Numbers," which focuses on the practical applications of mathematics in aviation. This module allows students to operate flight simulators to plan and execute simulated rescue missions, enhancing their understanding of mathematical concepts and developing essential soft skills like collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.

The facilities in a Newton Room are designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, providing an alternative learning arena for students to explore and master sciences in a more hands-on environment."
The Newton concept now spans 15 countries and includes diverse educational models such as the classic Newton Room, the Mobile Newton Room, and the Newton Flight Academy.
