After a successful visit to Bari last year, local students in Turin now enjoy the Newton learning experience.
The Pop-Up Newton Roon in Turin represents a significant step forward in the implementation of the Newton Concept in Italy, which had already been executed at the Polytechnic of Bari in 2021.
The classroom will be installed at INRiM from 2 to 18 November and will be open to secondary school students from the Piedmont region. 348 students will learn mathematical concepts in aviation, with the module “Up in the Air with Numbers”. Students are also offered the opportunity to visit the INRiM headquarters and its laboratories to learn about Metrology and its practical applications.

In the lead-up a team of 9 volunteers (3 teachers and 6 Flight Simulator Instructors) was trained by the Newton team to lead the Up in the Air with Numbers module.
November 9th the room was oficialy opened. Europe Director of FIRST Scandinavia, Alysia Tofflemire was proud to be a part of the day.
“It is an honor to return to Italy with the Pop-Up Newton Room, and this time to Turin, with a special and unique partner. I hope the students here are inspired to think about a future career in STEM after their visit! We look forward to consolidating the Newton Concept in Italy,” she said.
The Pop-Up room is the result of a collaboration between Boeing, FIRST Scandinavia, INRiM, and the Piedmont Aerospace District and has obtained the patronage of the Piedmont Region.

The cardinal principle that guides us is summarized in the formula of learning by doing, according to which children must experience firsthand the fundamental principles of modern sciences by actively collaborating in an environment with state-of-the-art facilities. As Boeing, we have already involved over 240,000 young people in the various social responsibility projects carried out so far and we certainly don’t want to stop there. I would like to recognize the Piedmont Region, the Piedmont Aerospace District, INRiM, and FIRST Scandinavia thanks to which all this work has been made possible.”
The inauguration took place in the presence of Diederik S. Wiersma,INRiM President; Andrea Tronzano, Councilor for Budget, Finance, Economic and Financial Planning, Heritage, Development of productive activities and small and medium-sized enterprises of the Piedmont Region; Tecla Riverso, Director of the Territorial Area of Turin, Regional School Office for Piedmont; Angela Natale, President of Boeing Italy and Managing Director for Southern Europe; Alysia Tofflemire, Europe Director of FIRST Scandinavia; and Fulvia Quagliotti, President of the Piedmont Aerospace District.
