Title

Up in the Air with Numbers - An Airy Adventure

An airy adventure is carried out in the Newton Room. To begin with, the learners are introduced to the mission of the day by communication with JRCC and Squadron 330 in a plenary session (film).

Afterwards the learners prepare to solve their mission.

The group of learners is divided into three crews, Alpha, Bravo and Charlie.

Each crew will be carrying out flight missions and have to co-operate in order to succeed. Each crew is divided further into three pairs.

The module consists of three activities:

We explore time
The learners work in pairs to explore various tasks related to time. They present and sum up their work in a plenary session.

Creating a flight plan
The crews each make their flight plan. This includes measuring distances, calculating time and setting the correct course.

Flight mission
The mission is carried out in flight simulators. The learners fly in pairs. They observe and document chosen locations, discuss their priorities and report to the Head of Training (the Newton teacher) after the end of their flight.

The Newton teacher is in charge of preparing the learners for the mission. The flight training and the mission itself are supported and guided by trained instructors.
