Launch of Turkey’s first Mobile Newton Room

ISTANBUL: April 28th, 2022, FIRST Scandinavia, Boeing, and the Science Heroes Association celebrated the opening of the Mobile Newton Room at Süleyman Nazif Anatolian High School in Avcılar, Istanbul.

The portable classroom will travel to different cities of Turkey and introduce an exciting and quality-assured method of STEM education geared towards aviation to high school students.

The opening at Süleyman Nazif Anatolian High School was the starting point of the tour. 
Here the classroom will host around 1000 students, divided into groups of 16, and accompanied by a Newton teacher. The Mobile Newton Room Turkey launch curriculum will be focusing on modules that will expose students to mathematical calculation and navigation concepts.

This is the third set of Mobile Newton Rooms in the world and the first in Turkey

Together with Boeing and FIRST Scandinavia, Science Heroes Association will bring the Mobile Newton Room concept to Turkey to support the development of strategic skills needed in Turkey’s growing aviation sector. 

Science Heroes Association is a non-profit organization that will organize the project in Turkey. The non-profit organization was founded in 2011 with the goal of disseminating and promoting science, scientific thought, and scientific awareness in all segments of society, as well as paving the way for children and youth to interact with science at a young age.

“Since its establishment, the Science Heroes Association has been working to engage children and youth in science and STEM fields at early ages. We believe science is the only source of hope for the future.  The Mobile Newton Room is a fantastic initiative that allows youth between the ages of 13 and 16 to participate in unique STEM experiences with an emphasis on aviation while also encouraging them to work in groups to plan and take a flight in a fun and inspiring environment. We also believe that this project will inspire participants to pursue a new career path in the aviation field. We are both proud and excited to carry out the Mobile Newton Room in Turkey in collaboration with Boeing and FIRST Scandinavia." said Prof. Sıddıka Semahat Demir, Chairman of Science Heroes Association at the opening.

Growing aviation industry

to bring the Newton educational concept to Turkey as they continue to invest in tomorrow’s aviation professionals and engineers through the Boeing Turkey National Aerospace Initiative.
