Operation and Ownership

OWNERSHIP
Newton Rooms are owned and operated locally by municipalities, in collaboration with school systems, donors, and other stakeholders.

Local educational authorities are essential for successful Newton operations. It is they who allocate key educational resources, such as teachers, and adapt the learning to the needs of the local community.

Newton Rooms are established in close cooperation with a city or county’s education community and are run by a local operations group. The group is composed of school leaders, Newton Teachers, donors, implementing partners, and others who have a stake in the success of the Newton Room. Local businesses often provide financial support for Newton Rooms, e.g. for equipment.

PARTNERSHIP
FIRST Scandinavia of Norway is the owner of the Newton Concept, and Newton America is Newton Operational Partner (NOP) for the United States.  FIRST Scandinavia and Newton America are actively seeking local implementing partners to help bring Newton to America’s cities and counties.

A partnership gives an implementing partner, such as an education nonprofit or a science center, the opportunity to become part of a strong, proven, and growing concept.

The partnership with FIRST Scandinavia and Newton America gives the implementing partner the opportunity to use the Newton brand in order to attract investors and sponsorships from industry partners or government, and to grow their program base.

The NOP and implementing partners pay an annual license fee per Newton Room to FIRST Scandinavia, the owner of the concept
