Newton Galicia, the first permanent Newton Room in Spain, celebrates 18 months of successful activity within the Galicia Technology Park.
Tecnópole, Ourense: Since its inauguration in October 2021, Newton Galicia has welcomed an impressive total of 93 schools from across all provinces of Galicia, engaging 2,538 students. In the 2021-2022 school year, 30 schools and 907 students had the opportunity to benefit from this unique educational concept.

The momentum continued in the 2022-2023 school year, with the Newton Room hosting 63 institutes and 1,631 students.
Creating incredible learning experiences in Spain
On June 14th, partners gathered at Technopole to celebrate the last 18 months of educational success.

"The Newton Room has been a great success, and not only because of the number of participants and the fact that module sessions are regularly fully booked within 24 hours of release. It is worth remembering that almost half of the participants are young women and that, following the visit to the Newton Room, many students consider the idea of starting a STEM career,” commented Javier Taibo, Tecnópole Director.

Following months of hard work, Tecnopole has customized the educational Newton Module “Up in the Air with Numbers,” with the help of the Galician Emergency Services 112 so that the exciting flight mission is set in Galicia instead of the original setting of Bodø, Norway. This allows visiting students to clearly understand the link between the STEM concepts they are learning during their day and real-life applications to possible careers in their region.

The Galician regional government has supported Newton Galicia's mission to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. By fostering a collaborative environment between academia, industry, and the public sector, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and industry, ensuring students are well-prepared to meet future challenges.
