Since 2021, nearly 10,000 young people in France have experienced the hands-on learning experience of Newton Modules.
This journey began with a visit from the Mobile Newton Room in Angers and has since reached cities like Dijon, Lyon, Paris, Melun, and Villepinte. Today, Angers is also home to a permanent Newton Room.
The partnership between The Léo Lagrange Federation, Boeing France, and FIRST Scandinavia has been at the heart of this success. In 2022, Léo Lagrange became the first official Newton Operating Partner (NOP), a role that will take responsibility for implementing the Newton Concept in France.
Celebrating in Mantes-la-Ville
This week, a closing event marked the success of the Mobile Newton Room at Les Plaisances Middle School in Mantes-la-Ville. The classroom has been set up there since late October, giving nearly 920 students from primary and middle schools the chance to dive into two the two educational modules, "Up in the Air with Numbers" and "Robots and Circumference".
Over the past three months, students have enjoyed 230 hours of hands-on learning, guided by 20 newly trained teachers and a local staff member who became certified Newton Teachers.
The celebration was a chance to showcase the project, tour the Mobile Newton Room, and watch students in action.
Students also shared reviews about their experiences:
Emma (9th grade): “It was a unique experience and made me even more excited about my dream of becoming an airline pilot.”
Inas (9th grade): “We had fun doing math!”
Nathan (9th grade, vocational prep): “I don’t like school, but this was different!”
Roman (7th grade): “I loved it because it’s not something we do every day.”
Abdelkader (6th grade): “I really enjoyed learning new things!”
