Jo Røislien – Science Communicator
Jo Røislien is one of Norway’s best-known science communicators. Jo holds a Master of Science in Industrial Mathematics and a PhD in Geostatistics, both from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). He collaborates with a wide range of medical research communities across Norway.
He is currently Professor of Medical Statistics at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Stavanger (UiS), Senior Researcher at the Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation (SNLA), and Associate Professor II at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
Hans van der Loo is an explainer and educator. Having worked for Industry until 2012, the 8 years before that he had been an explainer to policy makers and parliamentarians in Brussels. Since 2005 he has been involved in promoting sySTEMic thinking. In 2015 this led to the establishment of the EU STEM Coalition, with now over 60 national, regional and pan-european STEM Platforms. These days STEM has become STEAM and next to ‘thinking systemically’ also ‘acting with STEMpathy’ is needed to reach the next century in a civilized and peaceful way.
